Mission

Our mission is to create a safe and supportive space for adults who are functioning on the outside but far from flourishing within - people who feel emotionally overwhelmed, isolated or stuck because of life’s difficulties, yet do not meet the threshold for clinical or crisis support.

Through identity-led programmes, masterclasses and a supportive community, we create the conditions for people to understand what has shaped them, reconnect with who they are, and rebuild the hope, confidence and direction needed to move forward even against the odds.

Moving Forward Against the Odds CIC

A Place to Rebuild. A Community to Belong. A Reason to Keep Going

About Us

Moving Forward Against the Odds CIC supports adults who are carrying more
than they let on.
Many are managing, working showing up and keeping things together
but not really living. Many have already tried to help themselves by reading books, having conversations and pushing through. And still, nothing has quite shifted.
They may not meet the threshold for crisis or clinical services. That does not mean they don't need support. It means the support they need does not yet exist in most places.
Through honest reflection, genuine community and practical steps forward, we help people reconnect with who they are underneath the coping and find a way forward even against the odds.

What We Do

Community Masterclass

Our Community Masterclass offers a welcoming first step for adults who feel stuck, disconnected from themselves or uncertain about what comes next.
Through guided reflection, practical tools and supportive conversation, participants begin to understand how their experiences have shaped their identity, recognise patterns of shame and self judgement, and reconnect with self-compassion and possibility of moving forward.
Delivered online or in person, this 90 minute session can be experienced on its own or serve as an introduction to our six-week programme and private community

Moving Forward: Six Week Programme

Our six-week programme offers structured, guided support for adults rebuilding their sense of identity after periods of hopelessness, disconnection or loss of direction.
Over six weeks, participants are supported to understand how their experiences have shaped them, release shame and harsh judgement, and develop greater sense of self compassion and steadiness during difficult seasons. As the programme progresses
they begin to reconnect with hope, recognise new possibilities and develop a clearer sense of who they are and how they want to move forward.

Delivered online and in person in supportive groups of up 22 people, the programme runs six times each year and aims to reach approximately 132 adults annually. A referral pathway is in place to ensure that anyone requiring additional mental health support can be safely connected with appropriate professional services.

Moving Forward: One-to-One Support

For adults who feel stuck, have lost confidence or are finding it difficult to move forward.

This personalised option is suitable for people who are unable to attend our group programmes, or who would benefit from private, individually tailored support.

Moving Forward Community

We bring people together by providing a consistent, supportive online space for adults who want to continue moving forward without having to do it alone.

Through weekly guided reflections, monthly live sessions and meaningful peer connection, members can deepen their understanding of themselves, explore the patterns that keep them feeling stuck and remain connected to people who understand. It is a calm, honest space centred on reflection and gradual personal growth, not pressure, performance or forced positivity.
Members can participate at their own pace, with no expectation to share more than feels comfortable.

The Impact We Aim to Create

We want people to leave our programmes feeling less alone, less defined by shame and more connected to who they are. Our work aims to help adults understand how their experiences have shaped them, and begin to let go of shame, self judgement and isolation that can come with that. Over time, we hope to see people develop greater self compassion and emotional resilience, reconnect with a sense of hope and identity, and find a genuine reason to keep moving forward. Through six group programmes each year, we aim to support 132 adults annually, alongside those reached through our Community Masterclasses and Moving Forward Community. We will measure our impact through participants feedback, before and after wellbeing reflections, programme engagement and with permission personal stories and case studies.

Our Mission, Vision and Values

Moving Forward Against the Odds is for adults who are functioning on the outside, going to work, showing up and looking after the people who depend on them, while quietly losing touch with any real sense of purpose or direction within.

They may look stable. They do not feel it. Many have already tried to help themselves, and still, nothing has shifted.

They do not meet the threshold for crisis or clinical support, but they are not well either. It is in this gap, too unwell to be fine but not unwell enough to be seen, that our work begins.

Our Mission

Through identity-level reflection, peer community and structured personal development, we help people reconnect with who they are, rebuild their inner foundation and find genuine reasons to move forward, even against the odds.

Our Vision

A world where no adult has to reach crisis point before they are seen, understood and supported. A world where nobody feels so stuck or hopeless that they lose the will to keep going.

Our Values

Human Dignity

Every person is seen as whole, not broken. Life may have been hard, but their worth and potential remain.

Honesty Without Judgement

People can speak honestly about where they are without shame, criticism or pressure to appear better than they feel.

Identity as the Foundation

We believe meaningful change begins by reconnecting with who you are, not simply changing what you do.

Community and Connection

People should not have to rebuild alone. Meaningful connection with others who understand is central to our work.

Realistic Hope

We do not promise instant transformation. We create the conditions in which moving forward becomes possible again, one step at a time.

Accessibility

Support should not be limited to those who can afford private coaching or meet the threshold for clinical services. We meet people in the space between.

Partners & funders

If our mission speaks to you and you would like to support our work through funding, partnership or volunteering, we would love to hear from you. Together, we can help more adults access meaningful support before they reach crisis point.
